Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid unveiled

India’s leading SUV maker, Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled the hybrid version of its flagship SUV, XUV500 at the Auto Expo. The new XUV500 Hybrid ensures a clean transportation option and is basically designed for urban use. It is the first manual diesel hybrid vehicle in the world and is around 18 per cent more fuel efficient over the conventional model.

The XUV500 hybrid houses a permanent magnet synchronous motor and lithium ion battery to supplement fossil fuel energy for vehicle propulsion. It combines a conventional engine with an electric motor, which turns into a better fuel economy and performance. The electric motor assists the engine at low engine speeds and while accelerating and it also uses regenerative braking to generate electricity while braking.

Alongside XUV500 Hybrid, Mahindra has also displayed a range of products which highlighting of accessible technology such as all new autoSHIFT transmission in the Quanto and NXG Electric Sports car concept vehicle.  Moreover, the company has presented the Ssangyong Rodius MPV, the LIV-1 concept and a new 2.0-litre engine in the Rexton.
