The Mini debuted the new generation Clubman - it joins the 3-door and the 5-door version of the iconic Mini Cooper in the company’s model lineup.

The Clubman is amongst the largest Minis produced, measuring 4.2 metres in length. The new MINI Clubman’s dimensions are larger than those of the previous generation MINI Clubman. It’s also 270 mm longer and 73 mm wider than the MINI 5-door Hatch, with a wheelbase which is 100 mm larger. The boot has a volume of 360 litres, which can be extended to 1,250 litres by folding the rear seats flat.

The Clubman looks unmistakably Mini, with its large circular headlamps with chrome surrounds, the hexagonal contours on the grille and a power dome on the bonnet. LED headlamps with DRLs are optional extras on the Mini. A thick black cladding runs along the length of the car, which complements the massive wheels.

The rear features the distinctive split tail-gate that can be opened separately or as a single unit. Massive tail-lamps and a beefy bumper along with twin exhausts complete the rear. Four non-metallic and eight metallic paint finishes are available on the Clubman at launch. These include Melting Silver metallic and Pure Burgundy metallic for the first time, as well as the MINI Yours paint Lapisluxury Blue. The roof and exterior mirror caps can be finished in a contrasting colour – white, black or new and exclusive to MINI Clubman, silver – as a no-cost option.

The interiors are standard Mini fare as well - with a chunky steering wheel, the circular central screen (which can be had with either a 6.5 or 8.8 inch screen) with LED backlighting and the toggle switches. The rear seats gets a 60:40 split, where as a 40:20:40 split is optional.

The new MINI Clubman is offered with the choice of two petrol engines and one diesel with four cylinders at launch. The Cooper Clubman gets a 3 cylinder turbo-charged 1.5 litre engine producing 136hp and 220 of torque. The Cooper D Clubman gets a new 2 litre, 4 cylinder engine producing 150hp and 350nm. The Cooper S Clubman features a 4 cylinder turbo petrol motor pushing out 192hp and 280nm of twist. 6 speed manuals and 6 speed steptronic automatic transmissions are available across the range. The Cooper S Clubman and the Cooper D Clubman have the 8 speed steptronic with paddle shifters as an optional extra.

Mini currently sells the Mini Cooper (3-door, 5-door and convertible) along with the Countryman in India. It remains to be seen if the Clubman makes an India debut.
