Renault India has finally launched the facelifted version of its top selling SUV, Duster at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The updated Duster was first unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, but under Dacia badge, however, Renault later carried forward the changes to the Renault Duster as well. The refreshed Duster comes with cosmetic upgrades through which the French automaker aims to grab the attention of buyers in the growing crossover segment.
The front fascia of the SUV now feature the dual-tone chrome grille, however the Dacia Duster has the honeycomb grille. It comes equipped with new headlamps with double-optic units and daytime running lights, roof bars, new scuff plate, restyled taillamp cluster and chromed exhaust. Duster logo is embossed on the roof rails and the exhaust sports a chrome tip, while the 'Dark Metal' shade is offered with the 16-inch alloys. The vehicle is now available in an all-new body colour Comete Grey.
Inside the cabin, the new Duster looks identical to its predecessor. However, the company has given some subtle changes to the SUV to make it look fresh. The vehicle now has restyled instrument cluster, steering mounted controls, while the new centre console feature an updated infotainment system.
Additionally, the Duster facelift comes equipped with cruise control, speed limiter, rear parking assist. It also feature the Electronic Stability Control and standard dual front airbags.
The updated Duster retains the same engine configuration- a 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.6-litre petrol. The diesel powertrain is tuned to offer two power outputs- 84bhp, 240Nm of top torque and 110bhp, 240Nm of torque. Its petrol mill churns out a maximum power output of 102bhp and 145Nm of top torque. The lower spec diesel unit and petrol motor have been mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the 110bhp diesel mill has been coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. (Renault India has also introduced a new 1.2-litre TCe turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The vehicle is now available with automatic and all wheel drive version as well.)
