The small hatch from Tata is making news all around. With launch scheduled to take place in just a few weeks from now, Tata seems to have started removing the earlier Zica nameplate at the dealership level and dispatching the cars with new ‘Tiago’ badge. Recently, the car was caught without any brand logo near a dealership in Delhi. The car caught on camera is the top end XZ variant that doesn’t have any logo on it. It clearly indicates that the homegrown automaker’s preparations are on full swing as ‘Zica’ rebadging has already delayed the launch.
Carrying the latest design philosophy of Tata, Tiago hatch has been crafted on a new platform. It also comes with some of the segment first features keeping the young demographic in mind. Some of the aspects include Harman music system, powered by 8-speakers along with connectivity options for Bluetooth, USB and Aux-In. The infotainment unit further supports turn-by-turn Navigation and the Juke car app that allows all the passengers connect to vehicle’s audio system and form a list of songs to be played like a Jukebox.
Being a brand new car in the series, Tiago comes with new petrol and diesel powertrains. The 1.2 litre Revotron petrol unit produces 85PS and 114Nm of torque, while the 1.05 litre Revotorq diesel unit is capable of generating 70PS and 140 Nm of peak torque. These numbers are also highest in the segment where Hyundai i10 and Maruti Celerio are already some popular names. As per the pricing, Tata Tiago will slot in between Bolt and Nano that certainly hints towards an affordable price range.
