Toyota Kirloskar Motor in the first month of 2015, sold a total of 12,650 units compared to 10,910 units in January 2014. With this, the automaker witnessed a growth of 16 per cent in January 2015. Talking about the total registered sales which also includes exports, the automaker sold 14,364 units compared to 12,440 units in Jan 2014. The export mainly consists of Etios series which accounts for 1714 units out of 1924 units shipped.
Recently, the automaker introduced a 4x4 automatic variant along with the addition of cost efficient 2.5-litre engine in its Fortuner model lineup. While in the Innova, the dual front SRS airbags and ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) are now the standard features.
Mr. N Raja, Director and Senior Vice - President, Sales and Marketing said, "The growth of 16% is also credited to the launch of the New Innova and all-new Fortuner 4X4 AT, in early January. We would like to thank our customers for their continued support and trust in brand Toyota and also welcome new customers for a great journey ahead."
The updated Fortuner with 2.5-litre now gives an output of 142bhp at 3,400rpm and 343Nm of peak torque at 1600-2800rpm.
Mr Raja also said, "The effect of the increased prices on account of excise duty hike, is still impacting the market. We hope the Govt would reconsider the excise duty concessions in the upcoming Fiscal Budget, to achieve sustained growth in 2015. In line with the "Make in India" campaign, structural reforms for the Auto sector are essential at this point in time."
