Volkswagen has revealed the updated version of Touran MPV which is the best selling MPV in Germany. The 2015 Touran has been carved on company’s popular MQB platform and is now more upmarket from its predecessor considering the exteriors and interiors aspects.

Talking about the exterior changes, the most notable is the new metal sheet which makes this Minivan look sharper than rest of the German cars. Another obvious change is the increment in length and wheelbase by 130mm and 113mm respectively, that grants more space inside the cabin. The people’s carrier will be optionally available with LED headlights. Also the tailgate can now be opened up just by waving the foot.

The changes outside transforms into the cabin with more spaciousness both in 5 and 7 seat configuration. According to company, Touran has the largest cargo capacity at 1,040 liters (now 48 liters increment) in the segment. Moreover, the foldable seating arrangement extends the volume up to whopping 1,980 liters.

For enhancing comfort and convenience of the passengers, VW has included new infotainment systems which are compatible with Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto. The latest infotainment also supports MirrorLink technology that allows the occupants to ‘mirror’ their smartphone’s display on the screen. Other comfy feature include tri-zone climate control which comes as an option.

Under the hood, both diesel and petrol motors will propel this MPV. 2015 Touran gets three TSI petrol motors viz. 1.2 liter 110hp, 1.4 liter 150hp and 1.8 liter 180hp. On the diesel side, there will be 1.6 liter TDI that produces 110hp while the 2.0 TDI engine yields two power outputs; 150hp and 190hp respectively. All the above mentioned engines are equipped with start/stop and brake energy recuperation technology, helping in cutting down fuel consumption by 19 percent.

Safety also gets to the next level as the 2015 Touran will come with adaptive cruise control, front assist with city emergency braking, automatic post collision braking and various driver assisting features like traffic jam assist, trailer assist and side assist with rear traffic alert.

Touran has pleased over 1.9 million customers worldwide since its inception in 2003. It will be showcased alongside bigger sibling Sharan at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
