Australia S&P/ASX200 ends 0.2% down

Australian equity market finished session lower on Thursday, 14 December 2017, snapping five days of winning streak, with losses in shares of major banks and financials were more than offset by gains in materials and energy stocks. The S&P/ASX 200 index declined 0.2 per cent or 10.5 points to 6,011.3 at the close of trade. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 4.93% to 11.426.
