Basic materials stocks rise

Basic materials stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index increasing 18.46 points or 0.64% at 2900.29 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Sunflag Iron & Steel Company Ltd (up 8.99%), Fineotex Chemical Ltd (up 8.7%),Gravita India Ltd (up 5.57%),Uniply Industries Ltd (up 4.94%),Deepak Fertilizers & Petrochemicals Corp Ltd (up 4.38%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd (up 4.35%), Ballarpur Industries Ltd (up 4.26%), Andhra Petrochemicals Ltd (up 3.83%), Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Ltd (up 3.65%), and Bhageria Industries Ltd (up 3.6%).

On the other hand, N R Agarwal Industries Ltd (down 5.15%), Insecticides India Ltd (down 2.76%), and Mangalam Organics Ltd (down 1.8%) turned lower.

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 17.73 or 0.04% at 41877.42.

The Nifty 50 index was up 1.05 points or 0.01% at 12330.6.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 81.62 points or 0.57% at 14363.71.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 27.55 points or 0.56% at 4924.46.

On BSE,1008 shares were trading in green, 431 were trading in red and 64 were unchanged.
