FIIs continue buying

Net inflow of Rs 257.20 crore on 25 April 2014

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 257.20 crore on Friday, 25 April 2014, compared with net inflow of Rs 841.30 crore on Wednesday, 23 April 2014. The stock market was closed on Thursday, 24 April 2014, on account of Parliamentary elections in Mumbai constituency.

The net inflow of Rs 257.20 crore on Friday, 25 April 2014, was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4618.80 crore and gross sales of Rs 4361.70 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 370.30 crore into the secondary equity market on Friday, 25 April 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4618.80 crore and gross sales of Rs 4248.50 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had lost 188.47 points or 0.82% to settle at 22,688.07 on that day, its lowest closing level since 17 April 2014.

There was an outflow of Rs 113.20 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on Friday, 25 April 2014.

FIIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 8699.50 crore in April 2014 so far (till 25 April 2014). FIIs purchased shares worth a net Rs 20077.20 crore in March 2014.

FIIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 30895.20 crore in this calendar year so far (till 25 April 2014). FIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 113135.70 crore in 2013 calendar year.

There are a total of 1,708 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India.
