Metal stocks slide

Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 95.44 points or 1.29% at 7322.36 at 13:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Tata Steel Ltd (down 6%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 3.16%),JSW Steel Ltd (down 2.53%),NMDC Ltd (down 2.4%),Vedanta Ltd (down 1.84%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 1.51%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 1.4%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.97%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 0.03%).

On the other hand, Coal India Ltd (up 5.16%), turned up.

At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 175.45 or 0.49% at 35810.4.

The Nifty 50 index was up 53.6 points or 0.51% at 10505.05.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 3.35 points or 0.03% at 12767.2.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 12.54 points or 0.28% at 4418.52.

On BSE,1134 shares were trading in green, 1176 were trading in red and 161 were unchanged.
