Turnover rises sharply
The August 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8679.10, near Nifty's closing of 8673.25 in the cash market. The Nifty September 2016 futures traded at 8729.10, a modest premium of 55.85 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment rose sharply to Rs 4.88 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 3.50 lakh crore registered yesterday, 17 August 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty gained 49.20 points or 0.57% to settle at 8,673.25, its highest closing level since 9 August 2016.
State Bank of India (SBI), ICICI Bank, Bharat Financial Inclusion, Tata Steel, Biocon and Reliance Capital were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI August 2016 futures traded at 248.80, near spot closing of 248.20. ICICI Bank August 2016 futures traded at 252.20, at a discount compared with spot closing of 252.50. Bharat Financial Inclusion August 2016 futures traded at 802.05, near spot closing of 800.
Tata Steel August 2016 futures traded at 388.15, near spot closing of 386.80. Biocon August 2016 futures traded at 859.20, at a premium compared with spot closing of 855.50. Reliance Capital August 2016 futures traded at 466.50, near spot closing of 465.90.
The August 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 25 August 2016. The September 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 September 2016.
