Nifty March futures trade at discount to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment drops

The March 2016 futures on the 50-unit Nifty 50 index traded at 7,453.05, a discount of 32.25 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7,485.30 in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures and options (F&O) segment fell to Rs 2 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 2.16 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty settled almost unchanged at 7,485.30.

State Bank of India, Tata Steel, Reliance Industries (RIL), ICICI Bank and Axis Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. State Bank of India March 2016 futures traded at 183.65, at a premium compared to the stock's spot closing of 183.10. Tata Steel March 2016 futures traded at 291.80, at a premium compared to the stock's spot closing of 291.40.

Reliance Industries March 2016 futures traded at 1,018, at a discount compared to the stock's spot closing of 1,023. ICICI Bank March 2016 futures traded at 215, at a discount compared to the stock's spot closing of 216.80. Axis Bank March 2016 futures traded at 411.50, at a premium compared to the stock's spot closing of 411.30.

The March 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 31 March 2016.
