Nifty March futures trade near spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment rises

The March 2016 futures on the 50-unit Nifty 50 index traded at 7,514.30, near Nifty's closing of 7,510.20 in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures and options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 2.63 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 2.27 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty rose 24.05 points or 0.32% to settle at 7,510.20, its highest closing level since 9 March 2016.

Tata Steel, Axis Bank, State Bank of India, Yes Bank and Reliance Industries (RIL) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. Tata Steel March 2016 futures traded at 295.20, at a premium compared to the stock's spot closing of 294.60. Axis Bank March 2016 futures traded at 415.45, at a premium compared to the stock's spot closing of 412.90.

State Bank of India March 2016 futures traded at 181.55, at a premium compared to the stock's spot closing of 180.55. Yes Bank March 2016 futures traded at 798.10, at a discount compared to the stock's spot closing of 802. RIL March 2016 futures traded at 1,011.60, at a discount compared to the stock's spot closing of 1,015.40.

The March 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 31 March 2016.
