Nifty May futures trade at premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment rises

The May 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7,781, a premium of 34 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7,747 in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) futures and options (F&O) totaled Rs 2.61 lakh crore, higher than turnover of Rs 1.66 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty dropped 58.90 points or 0.75% to settle at 7,747, its lowest closing level since 12 April 2016.

TVS Motor Company, Tata Motors, Aurobindo Pharma, Tata Steel, and Reliance Industries (RIL) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. TVS Motor Company May 2016 futures traded at 283.25, at a premium compared with spot closing of 282.20. Tata Motors May 2016 futures traded at 410.20, at a premium compared with spot closing of 408.85. Aurobindo Pharma May 2016 futures traded at 804, at a premium compared with spot closing of 801.75.

Tata Steel May 2016 futures traded at 350.50, at a premium compared with spot closing of 348.80. RIL May 2016 futures traded at 981.20, at a premium compared with spot closing of 975.

The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 26 May 2016.
