Nifty May futures trade at premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment increases

The May 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7,912, a premium of 45.95 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7,866.05 in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) futures and options (F&O) totaled Rs 2.25 lakh crore, higher than turnover of Rs 1.81 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.

In the cash market, the Nifty gained 132.60 points or 1.71% to settle at 7,866.05, its highest closing level since 27 April 2016.

Hindustan Unilever, Yes Bank, Reliance Capital, Reliance Industries and Tata Motors were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. Hindustan Unilever May 2016 futures traded at 851.35, at a premium compared with spot closing of 848. Yes Bank May 2016 futures traded at 948.60, at a premium compared with spot closing of 945.05. Reliance Capital May 2016 futures traded at 411.50, at a premium compared with spot closing of 409.50.

Reliance Industries May 2016 futures traded at 987.75, at a premium compared with spot closing of 983.30. Tata Motors May 2016 futures traded at 403.30, at a premium compared with spot closing of 402.65.

The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 26 May 2016.
