Shares of three oil exploration and production companies rose 0.52% to 2.55% at 12:15 IST on BSE on gain in crude oil prices.
ONGC (up 2.55% at Rs 225.40), Reliance Industries (up 2.03% at Rs 1,037.50) and Oil India (up 0.52% at Rs 350) edged higher. Cairn India (down 1.21% at Rs 122.25) edged lower.
Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 255.67 points or 1.04% at 24,725.24.
Higher crude oil prices would result in higher realization from crude sales for oil exploration firms. Brent for March settlement was currently up 86 cents at $34.75 a barrel. The contract had risen 79 cents or 2.38% to settle at $33.89 a barrel during the previous trading session.
