Railways' Revenue Earnings up by 12.53 Percent During April 2014 - August 2014

The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during 1st April 2014 to 31st August 2014 were Rs. 61324.64 crore compared to Rs. 54496.73 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.53 per cent.

The total approximate earnings from goods during 1st April 2014 - 31st August 2014 were Rs. 40879.09 core compared to Rs. 37103.34 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 10.18 per cent.

The total approximate revenue earnings from passengers during 1st April 2014 - 31st August 2014 were Rs. 17700.16 crore compared to Rs. 14758.01 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 19.94 percent.

The approximate revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs.1649.40 crore during April 2014 - August 2014 compared to Rs. 1560.66 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 5.69 per cent.

The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during 1st April 2014 - 31st August 2014 were 3508.68 million compared to 3467.60 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 1.18 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during April 2014 - August 2014 were 1932.83 million and 1575.85 million compared to 1882.25 million and 1585.35 million registering an increase of 2.69 per cent and a decrease of 0.60 per cent respectively during the same period last year.
