Telecom stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 8.06 points or 0.67% at 1219.01 at 09:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, ITI Ltd (up 3.54%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 3.05%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 1.5%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 1.48%), Reliance Communications Ltd (up 1.2%), and OnMobile Global Ltd (up 0.18%), were the top gainers.
On the other hand, Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 3.22%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 2.31%), and HFCL Ltd (down 0.48%) moved lower.
At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 169.38 or 0.54% at 30953.51.
The Nifty 50 index was down 25.9 points or 0.28% at 9116.85.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 14.16 points or 0.13% at 10720.64.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 9.89 points or 0.26% at 3810.01.
On BSE,719 shares were trading in green, 622 were trading in red and 82 were unchanged.
