Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, ITI Ltd (up 11.02%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 5.19%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.99%),Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 4.9%),Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 2.28%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 2.06%), OnMobile Global Ltd (up 2.02%), Reliance Communications Ltd (up 1.47%), Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 0.67%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 0.53%).
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 61.97 or 0.16% at 39893.81.
The Nifty 50 index was up 22.25 points or 0.19% at 11809.1.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 45.39 points or 0.34% at 13428.99.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 5.65 points or 0.12% at 4598.76.
On BSE,885 shares were trading in green, 538 were trading in red and 73 were unchanged.
