Nifty August 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

The August 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8697.95, premium of 19.70 points compared with Nifty's closing of 8678.25 in the cash market. The Nifty September 2016 futures traded at 8747.50, a premium of 69.25 points compared with the spot closing for the index.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment jumped to Rs 3.04 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 1.94 lakh crore registered yesterday, 8 August 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty fell 33.10 points or 0.38% to settle at 8,678.25, its lowest closing level since 4 August 2016.

Lupin, State Bank of India, Exide Industries, Apollo Tyres an Aditya Birla Nuvo were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Lupin August 2016 futures traded at 1608.90, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1599.90. State Bank of India August 2016 futures traded at 236, at a premium compared with spot closing of 235.50. Exide Industries August 2016 futures traded at 179.60, at a premium compared with spot closing of 178.70.

Apollo Tyres August 2016 futures traded at 183.55, at a premium compared with spot closing of 182.60. Aditya Birla Nuvo August 2016 futures traded at 1583.80, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1580.85.

The August 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 25 August 2016. The September 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 September 2016.
