Volumes jump at NIIT Technologies counter

Cummins India, NTPC, Pfizer, and A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 2 August 2012.

NIIT Technologies clocked volume of 54.90 lakh shares by 13:02 IST on BSE, a 105.78-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 52,000 shares. The stock tumbled 5.07% to Rs 282.75 after 6.91% equity changed hands in seven bulk deals on the BSE today, 2 August 2012.

Cummins India notched up volume of 2.88 lakh shares, a 27.92-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 10,000 shares. The stock surged 6.9% to Rs 467.85.

Cummins India's net profit rose 1.9% to Rs 180.55 crore on 21.79% growth in income from operations (net) to Rs 1258.75 crore in Q1 June 2012 over Q1 June 2011. The company announced the results during trading hours today, 2 August 2012.

NTPC clocked volume of 74.94 lakh shares, a 11.68-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 6.42 lakh shares. The stock rose 2.38% to Rs 161.10.

Pfizer clocked volume of 58,000 shares, a 8.95-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 7,000 shares. The stock lost 0.68% to Rs 1,219.95.

A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services notched up volume of 9.40 lakh shares, a 6.06-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 1.55 lakh shares. The stock jumped 11.88% to Rs 88.50.
