The Election Commission Friday here said the excise department officials have seized around 1,000 litres of hooch in West Bengal's Hooghly district.
Officials, under instruction from the poll panel, have also confiscated liquor in Darjeeling in north Bengal March 10.
"We have seized 360 litres of cholai (hooch) from Polba and 640 litres from Pandua in Hooghly district today (Friday)," assistant chief electoral officer Amitjyoti Bhattacharji told reporters here.
Around 56,200 litres of raw material for producing cholai was also seized and destroyed, he said.
In addition, officials have also apprehended 220 litres of spirit and 183 litres of beer near Jor Bunglow in Darjeeling district.
