At least 10 people were killed and 12 missing after a boat rammed into a mining ship and capsized off Guinea's southern coast, officials said Sunday.

According to officials, the boat's motor had failed and was driven by waves towards the ship, Xinhua reported.

Ten bodies were recovered after the incident Saturday, while 18 people were rescued, the officials said.

Guinea Prime Minister Mohamed Said Fofana travelled to the site in the wake of the accident, while local authorities are continuing with the search and rescue efforts.
