At least 11 people were killed and five others injured in clashes between Afghan security forces and Taliban militants Sunday, authorities said.

Six people, including five militants and a police official, were killed in the northern Kunduz province in a clash between security forces and insurgents, police said.

Five insurgents were killed when security forces raided a Taliban hideout in Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province Sunday morning.

"Acting upon intelligence report, units of police attacked Taliban hideout in Tajlaqi area of Imam Sahib district killing five insurgents," provincial police spokesperson Sayed Sarwar Hussaini told reporters.

Although no police official was injured in Imam Sahib, the official confirmed that militants attacked and killed a police constable in the neighbouring Khanabad district.

In another incident, a clash between security forces and Taliban left five people, including three police officials and two militants, killed in the central Wardak province, said a statement of the provincial government.

The clash, according to the statement, erupted in Chak district in the morning and lasted for a while during which three police officials lost their lives and three others sustained injuries.

Two militants, including a Taliban local commander, were killed and two others injured in the clash, the statement said.
