At least 11 people were killed and 15 injured on Friday when an under-construction wall of a stone crusher unit collapsed in a village in Haryana's Mahendergarh district, police said.

All the victims, including two women and a teenaged girl, were labourers at the stone crusher in Dholera village in south-west Haryana, close to the Haryana-Rajasthan border and nearly 400 km from the state capital Chandigarh (over 170 km from Delhi).

Officials said the 15 injured were rushed to a general hospital in district headquarter town of Narnaul, 25 km from the village.

Nine of the injured were later referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak in view of their serious condition.

Mahendergarh Deputy Commissioner Atul Kumar said a magisterial probe had been ordered.

Four people, including two owners of New Satyam stone crusher, were arrested.

"An under-construction wall collapsed due to heavy rainfall in the area," Narnaul sub-divisional magistrate Mahesh Kumar said.

Most victims and injured were labourers from nearby areas, the deputy commissioner said.

The district administration announced a compensation of Rs.3 lakh to the kin of those killed and Rs.50,000 to each of the injured.
