More than 12,000 saplings were planted in the heart of the capital on Saturday.
Minister of State Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary planted a sapling of amaltass on Kasturba Gandhi Marg to mark the launch of New Delhi Municipal Council's (NDMC) tree plantation drive.
NDMC chairman Naresh Kumar said over 12,000 saplings were planted on Saturday. He said the campaign would expand the entire area's green cover, an NDMC statement said.
The NDMC, the smallest of civic agencies in the city, oversees the heart of Delhi which covers parliament, Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Prime Minister's Office, India Gate and major central government offices.
