At least 126 people died and 221 people were rescued after a boat capsized on Lake Tanganyika in the southern Katagna province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), a media report said Sunday.

The accident occurred Thursday night on Lake Tanganyika between the cities of Moba and Kalemie because of overloading and strong winds, said a local radio station report, quoting an unidentified official source.

On March 22, more than 200 people perished after a boat transporting refugees capsized on Lake Albert, situated at the border of the DR Congo and Uganda.
