At least 13 people were killed and more than two dozen others injured in a bus-truck collision in Nepal's western Arghakhanchi district Wednesday afternoon, police said.

"At least 13 people were killed, of whom eight died on the spot," Sagar Mani Pathak, chief district officer of Arghakhanchi, told Xinhua by phone.

He said the 26 injured were undergoing treatment in various hospitals, with five of them in critical condition.

The identities of the deceased had not yet been ascertained.

The accident took place when a bus heading to Butwal from Sandhikharkha collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction at 12.30 p.m.
