At least 14 houses here developed cracks and some of them were partly damaged after heavy rains Thursday, police said.

More than 50 residents of Krishna Nagar area, located on the outskirts of the town, have been moved to safer place, a police official told IANS.

He said the cracks were caused by the heavy rains which soaked their foundation weakening them.

He said the local civic authorities have appealed to residents living in areas prone to landslides to take cautionary measures.
