At least 20 miners were trapped after a mine collapsed in Colombia's Antioquia district Friday, authorities said.

"It is said that more than 20 people are trapped. We are already undertaking rescue operations in the ground," reported Xinhua citing Cesar Hernandez, the director of Antioquia's agency for disaster relief.

According to him, two miners escaped the collapse with minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital in Buritica.

Red Cross workers and local rescue crew were working to reach the miners.
