At least 33 Islamic State terrorists were killed in airstrikes carried out by the international coalition on Monday in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh.
A militia leader from the Sinjar protection force, Luqman Kili al-Khansuri told Efe that the coalition launched more than seven air raids since Monday morning, targeting IS positions in the town of Sinjar, 120 km west of Mosul, provincial capital of Nineveh.
In addition to killing 33 IS militants, the air raids destroyed four of its bases and six of its military vehicles, according to al-Khansuri.
Coalition operations in Nineveh were in response to the IS seisure of Ramadi, provincial capital of al-Anbar, on Sunday.
Security reinforcements and Shiite militiamen were mobilised on Monday in Ramadi in an effort to retake the besieged city.
