The government on Wednesday said 34 people connected to the Vyapam issue died between 2007 and 2015.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary told the Rajya Sabha that based on information provided by Madhya Pradesh, "a total number of 34 people connected to the Vyapam issue have died between 2007 and 2015".
"Out of these, 11 died due to accidents, 15 due to health problems, 5 committed suicide, 2 drowned and the cause of death of one could not be ascertained," he said.
The Supreme Court in July handed over the investigation of cases related to Vyapam -- short for Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal -- to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The CBI has registered 32 FIRs and launched 11 preliminary inquiries over the scam.
