The BJP on Friday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government of spreading lies and said that they should hire "new script writers for new dialogues".

Delhi unit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Satish Upadhyay said: "Kejriwal and company should understand that their repetitive dialogues have gone stale."

"It will be better if they hire a new script writer to get new dialogues," the BJP leader said.

Upadhyay's remarks came after Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia accused the Centre of not allowing the Delhi government to work for public welfare.

Earlier in the day, Sisodia appeared before the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) in connection with a case of alleged illegal recruitments in the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), in which DCW chief Swati Maliwal has been booked.

Sisodia said the questioning reflects the attempts to stop the Delhi government's work for the welfare of the people of Delhi.

"People of Delhi very well know that during the 18 months of Kejriwal rule, Delhi has gone back by 18 years due to lack of planning and development work," Upadhyay alleged.

The Delhi BJP chief also slammed the government for scrapping the Shunglu Committee formed by Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, which he set up to probe some actions of the AAP government.

Upadhyay said: "It looks ridiculous to hear Deputy Chief Minister calling Shunglu Committee unconstitutional."

"We wish to ask whether the committees formed and appointments made by the Kejriwal government during the last 18 months were constitutional?" Upadhyay said.

"A former Comptroller & Auditor General of India (CAG), V.K. Shunglu is perhaps one of the best persons in this country to assess the propriety of government orders," he said.

The intent of the Lt Governor behind appointing the Shunglu Committee was to assess the legality of the file orders without any bias, Upadhyay said.

"If Kejriwal government files have no legal shortcomings, then he should have no reason to fear," he added.

Jung set up the panel to study alleged irregularities of the AAP government following an August 4 Delhi High Court ruling giving primacy to the Lt Governor in Delhi's administration.
