Two months after being kidnapped from Pakistan's Quetta city, Manoj Kumar, a Hindu doctor, was released by his captors in exchange for ransom, a media report said Monday.

Some gunmen had kidnapped Kumar from Quetta's Industrial Police Station area Dec 2 last year. They released him in the city's Hazar Ganji area after a ransom was paid Sunday night, Dawn reported.

After being released, Kumar said: "I do not know where I was kept?"

He said the captors used to give him only one square meal a day. "I was set free following payment of ransom. I was kept in one small room and I was unaware about the outer world."

According to family sources, the doctor was set free after a payment of 14 million Pakistani rupees (over 8.5 million Indian rupees).

Senior Superintendent of Police Operations, Quetta, Aetezzaz Goraya also confirmed that the doctor was set free after payment of ransom.
