Delhi will have a moment of relief from the 'very poor' air quality for the next two days with an increase in wind speed, according to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) on Wednesday.

"The air quality is likely to improve due to a slight increase in wind speed. However, after 2-3 days, a lot of moisture may enter Delhi which is not favourable for the air quality," SAFAR said, adding that now stubble burning has no effect on Delhi's air quality.

On Wednesday morning, the air quality was "severe" at four out of the 11 monitored areas, including Noida in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Chandni Chowk in Delhi. As the temperature soared, the air quality again went back to its "very poor" and "poor" state in different areas of the national capital.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi at 4 pm was recorded at 'very poor' or 316. Meanwhile, Gurugram in NCR moved up to 'poor' on Wednesday evening with an AQI of 267 as against 322 on Tuesday, on a scale of 0 to 500.

"As the western disturbance moves to the east, the air quality for the next two days will see a slight improvement. Cold and dry winds from the north-west will help disperse pollutants. Humidity will also be a bit less. But after these two days, the AQI will again go down and might reach severe levels till December 6," said Mahesh Palawat, Director, private weather agency Skymet.

The AQI was 314 in Faridabad, 333 in Greater Noida, 308 in Noida, all considered 'very poor'.
