Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will be campaigning extensively in poll-bound Maharashtra for Samajwadi Party (SP) candidates, party spokesman Rajendra Chowdhary said here Saturday.
Yadav left for Mumbai Saturday. He is scheduled to address an election rally at Wafa complex compound in Thane late Saturday night to seek support and votes for party candidate Farhan Azmi.
He will campaign Sunday for the president of the party's Maharashtra unit, Abu Azmi, in Rafinagar.
Azmi is contesting from Shivaji assembly segment. The Samajwadi Party has fielded a dozen candidates in Maharashtra.
The state Congress had tied up with the Samajwadi Party but called off the alliance within 24 hours as the national leadership refused to ratify it.
