Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday unveiled the logo, released the jersey and launched a website of the Indian Crossbow Shooting Association which is holding an inaugural international tournament here.
The crossbow has been renamed "Deshi Dhanush."
Akhilesh Yadav said the sport of crossbow shooting will now be popular throughout the world, as it has been launched from the city of the Taj Mahal.
The event, which was held at the Eklavya Stadium here, is the brainchild of Agra-resident and national player Rajat Vij, who is also the president of the Indian Crossbow Shooting Association.
Rajat's wife Hina is the first Indian to win two gold medals and three silvers at the World Crossbow Championship in Florida last year.
An 18-member team from Japan, US, Sweden and Portugal has arrived here to give a live demonstration.
The Indian team is scheduled to participate in the World Crossbow Championship in Portugal in June.
