Amy Adams's bold role in "American Hustle" helped her bag the award for best actress in motion picture-comedy or musical at the 71st Golden Globe Awards held in Beverly Hills here Sunday evening.
She had once described her character Sydney Prosser as "really strong" and "kind of crazy".
Her co-star Jennifer Lawrence also won an award at the 71st Golden Globe Awards.
The other nominees included Meryl Streep and Greta Gerwig.
Tina Fey popular for "Saturday Night Live" TV show and Amy Poehler are hosting the Golden Globes for the second time.
