Buenos Aires, Aug 21 (IANS/EFE) An Argentine truck driver, involved in an accident that killed four relatives of Pope Francis, has been charged with murder, officials said.
Raul Pombo was charged Wednesday for killing the pope's nephew, Emanuel Horacio Bergoglio, his wife Valeria Carmona and their two sons, Jose and Antonio.
The accident occurred Tuesday when the vehicle in which the family was travelling collided with Pombo's truck that was ahead of them on a highway that links Rosario and Cordoba cities in Argentina.
The Bergoglio family was returning to its Buenos Aires residence after a vacation.
Pope Francis was informed of the accident and was deeply saddened to hear the deaths of his relatives, Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said Tuesday.
