Ariana Grande 'loved' Mac Miller long before they started dating

Singer Ariana Grande says she loved and respected her boyfriend and rapper Mac Miller long before they began dating.

"I met him when I was 19," Grande said in the April issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, reports aceshowbiz.com.

"We have loved and adored and respected each other since the beginning, since before we even met, just because we were fans of each other's talent," she added.

However, Grande said they were not ready to begin the relationship at that time.

"We weren't ready at all, though, to be together. It's just timing. We both needed to experience some things, but the love has been there the whole time," she said.

Grande then explained how important it is to feel complete about herself first, in order to love someone in a better way.

"I've never looked at love as something that I need to complete me. I would like to be complete on my own first and fall in love with somebody who is also complete," she said.

"You can still celebrate and be totally blessed with each other, but I want to feel a 100 per cent myself so that I can love that person better," Grande added.
