Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Wednesday reviewed the security situation in the Kashmir Valley and visited the Line of Control (LoC) where he met field commanders.
He was accompanied by the General Officer Commanding of Northern Command. He "reviewed security and logistical preparedness", an army statement said here.
The statement said the chief, who arrived here on Tuesday, was briefed by Corps Commander Lt. Gen J.S. Sandhu over the steps taken to meet the challenges posed by weather.
Twenty soldiers have died in avalanches in the higher reaches of northern Kashmir.
Gen Rawat laid emphasis on the need for constant awareness vis-a-vis the weather and taking precautions to avoid untoward incidents.
