Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig B.D. Mishra (retd) on Tuesday visited Hawai and Kibitho, which is among the remote security posts on the India-China border.
He appealed to armed forces officers and men and others to motivate the youth from the region to join the Indian Army.
Accompanied by his wife Neelam Mishra, the Governor met members of local communities and government officials and personnel of the Indo Tibetan Border Police and Army at both the locations.
He complimented personnel of the armed forces for works aimed at the welfare of the local populace in addition to their prime duty of securing the Indian borders.
Brigadier Mishra said the nation needs soldiers, particularly sons of the soil, for national defence and emphasised on the recruitment of local youths in the armed forces.
"If we focus attention on our youths and harness and utilise their potential, we will be immensely contributing towards the prosperity of the nation," the Governor said while appreciating area people for emotional and other support to armed forces in performing their duty.
"The government officials must work with responsibility, move forward with innovation, initiatives and take suo motu action to benefit the people," he said at a meeting at Hawai, the district headquarters of Anjaw district, which is also the easternmost district of India.
The Governor emphasised that healthcare and education must be the topmost priority sectors for the government.
Pointing at the war memorials, the Governor said there must be no memorials in the future.
"For that, we have to secure every inch of our land and that can be done if we have home-grown soldiers," he said and urged local representatives, villagers and government officials to identify, motivate and facilitate local youths to join the Army.
