Rapper Azealia Banks was arrested after allegedly attacking a female security guard at a nightclub here.
The incident happened on Wednesday when Banks attended an invite-only party for the birthday of one of the club's owners. She was uninvited, but came with an invited guest.
When she was told that she needed to get a stamp to enter, she got upset and caused a scene with a female security guard and a male guard, reports aceshowbiz.com.
The owner eventually let her in, but once she was inside it, she started "to curse at the guards again, explaining who she was, that she's on Rihanna's album," an eyewitness was quoted as saying by pagesix.com.
Another source added that when security approached, Banks "spit in the (female bouncer's) face."
When she was escorted out, she reportedly bit the female security guard in the breast, "almost breaking her shirt. (The bite) caused swelling and redness," a police source claimed.
But the bitten bouncer declined medical attention at the scene.
Banks allegedly shouted: "I'm gonna call the cops!" outside the club and approached an NYPD (New York City Police Department) Traffic Enforcement car.
When she returned to the front of the club with the police, she allegedly punched the female bouncer. She was later taken away by the police officials.
The "Chasing time" crooner was taken to the Sixth Precinct on a misdemeanour charge of third-degree assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. She was held there for evaluation and was released on Wednesday evening.
Her representative has not yet released a statement on her arrest.
