Bayern Munich defender David Alaba has been named the Austrian Player of the Year for the fifth time in a row.

The 23-year-old player has been chosen by nine out of 10 coaches of the Austrian league in a poll conducted by the Austrian news agency, reports Efe.

"It's a great honour for me," the player commented on Thursday on winning the award, thanking God as well as the coaches who voted for him.

Although he is still young Alaba is already the top winner of this award, ahead of retired striker Ivica Vastic, who received it four times.
