State-run engineering company Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) Monday announced it has won an order worth Rs.3,000 crore for supply of steam generators for an upcoming power project in Odisha.
"In the face of stiff international competition, engineering major BHEL has won a prestigious order for the supply of 2x800 MW steam generators (boilers) with supercritical parameters for an upcoming power project in Odisha," the company said in a statement here.
The contract, valued at nearly Rs.3,000 crore has been awarded by the country's largest power generator, the state-run NTPC, for its project at Darlipali, Odisha.
"With this order, BHEL has taken its tally of super critical boilers of 660 MW, 700 MW and 800 MW ratings to 32 sets, cementing its leadership position in super critical technology," it said.
The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the steam generators and associated auxiliaries.
The major equipment for the contract will be manufactured at BHEL's Trichy, Ranipet, Bhopal, Hyderabad and Bangalore plants, while the firm's southern regional office will be responsible for civil works and commissioning of the equipment, the statement added.
According to the heavy electricals major, having commissioned 375 coal-based sets generating more than 90,000 MW, BHEL equipped sets generate around two-thirds of the country's power.
BHEL stock closed Monday at Rs.188.20 apiece, 0.67 percent, or 1.25 points, higher than its previous close on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
