The Congress party on Sunday charged the BJP-led central government with indulging in "horse-trading" in states like Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh, asserting the party will fight such "demagoguery with democracy".

"Toppling elected governments is BJP's new model of governance. Congress party will fight their demagoguery with democracy," the party said in a series of tweets.

"First, Arunachal and now Uttarakhand, these attacks on our democracy and constitution reveal the real face of Modi Government," said a tweet.

The party's official twitter handler INC India in one of the tweets said: "Toppling elected governments by indulging in horse-trading and blatant misuse of money and muscle, seems to be BJP's new model, after failure in Bihar".

"This attack on our democracy and constitution, first in Arunachal and now Uttarakhand, is the true face of Modiji's BJP," it said.

Stating that bringing down the interest rates for PPF and small savings will hurt the middle class chiefly, the opposition party said, "Modi government's slashing of interest rates hurts the middle classes".

"Small savings schemes are the hope of crores of Indians. By targeting them Modiji is hurting the middle class," it said.

The party also charged the government with displaying their "double standards" on the row in the Jawaharlal Nehru University and said: "Double standards of the BJP stands exposed. Why has the government taken no action against those who doctored JNU videos?"

The Congress' horse-trading allegation came a day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal blamed the BJP for "brazen horse-trading" in Uttarakhand.
