The BJP on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court directive handing over to the CBI the probe into the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh.
The Bharatiya Janata Party claimed the Supreme Court has in fact endorsed the demand of the Madhya Pradesh government.
"The attorney general pointed out right that we had made this application (for a CBI probe) with the Madhya Pradesh High Court," BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said here.
In the last few days, a perception was being built up that perhaps something is happening, Kohli said, adding the Madhya Pradesh government had on its own approached the high court and said it wanted the case transferred to the CBI.
The apex court bench headed by Chief Justice H.L. Dattu handed over the probe after Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi told the court that he has instructions from the Madhya Pradesh government on handing over the probe to the CBI.
