London, April 28 (IANS/CMC) Barbados international Emmerson Boyce went from hero to villain as his own goal allowed high flying Tottenham Hotpsurs to snatch a late 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic in the English Premier League.
The 33-year-old defender notched his third goal of the season to pull Wigan level at 1-1 in the 11th minute, after winger Gareth Bale had put Tottenham ahead in the ninth minute Saturday, reports CMC.
But with his side poised for a huge win at the DW Stadium after Callum McManaman's 49th minute strike, Boyce suffered the ignominy of steering the ball into his own nets off Tom Huddlestone's freekick in the 90th minute.
The draw left Wigan in the relegation zone with four games remaining while Tottenham remained in the hunt for a Champions League spot.
