Border Security Force (BSF) troopers on Friday recovered one AK-47 assault rifle and two magazines with 52 live rounds in Punjab's Ferozepur sector along the India-Pakistan border.
The recovery was made near Border Out Post (BOP) Tapu in Ferozepur sector, nearly 300 km from here, a BSF spokesman said.
The recovery was made on the basis of specific information regarding smuggling of narcotics, arms and ammunition through the international border.
A search by the BSF led to the recovery of the arms and ammunition in fields ahead of the barbed wire fencing in the border belt.
The BSF has recovered over 295 kg of heroin along the international border in Punjab sector this year. The heroin is valued at Rs.1,475 crore in the international market.
