The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday suspended a trooper for allegedly molesting a college girl in West Bengal's Howrah district and ordered an inquiry.
The family of the girl on Wednesday filed a police complaint against head constable Dharmendra Gupta, alleging he molested the girl after she turned down his marriage proposal.
"Taking cognizance of the alleged molestation, Inspector General Sandeep Salunke has ordered a high-level inquiry and placed Dharmendra Gupta under suspension till completion of the enquiry," said a BSF officer.
"The BSF is extending all cooperation to state police for investigating the case," added the officer.
